Personal Narrative:

Dr. Greg Matter completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Texas in Austin and his medical education at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. After an internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he continued his cardiothoracic surgical residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the direction of doctors Kirklin and Pacifico. Dr. Matter is board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He has been a practicing heart and lung surgeon at Baylor University Medical Center for over seven years and has performed over 2000 operations. His patients enjoy quality care with short hospitalizations. His research interests involve improving operative outcomes for the very elderly.
