| SAFARI: Study for atrial fibrillation reduction | |
|
Principal Investigator: Kevin Wheelan, M. D. Primary Objective: The study's purpose is to evaluate new pacemaker features in the Vitatron Selection Model 9000 multi-programmable, dual chamber, dual sensor (activity and QT-interval), and rate-responsive pacemaker. The AF 3.0 software upgrade in the Model 9000 pacemaker features multiple therapies to prevent atrial fibrillation and maintain a stable ventricular rate. Six atrial fibrillation prevention pacing therapies (referred to as PPT's for the purpose of this study) are designed to reduce the incidence of atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. These therapies are classified as either Continuous Overdrive Pacing or Triggered Overdrive Pacing Therapy. In addition, the AF 3.0 software upgrade contains a Ventricular Rate Stabilization therapy to reduce the symptoms of atrial tachyarrhythmias. Contact Information: Cory White (214.820.7825) |
