Personal Narrative:
Dr. Assar attended The University of Texas in Austin where he received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of California/San Francisco School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Gold-Headed Cane Award, the highest honor given to a medical student who embodies the complete physician. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and his Fellowship in Cardiology at Duke University of Medical Center. At Duke he was awarded the Walter L. Floyd MD Endowed Fellowship in Cardiology Award, the highest recognition for clinical care given to a fellow by Duke faculty. Dr. Assar completed his Fellowship in Electrophysiology at the Duke University Medical Center and the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Assar is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
