KERA Interview with Dr. Schussler
Patient Testimonial - Radial Artery Angiography

Personal Narrative:

Dr. Schussler is a practicing general and interventional cardiologist. His interests include invasive and non-invasive coronary imaging, peripheral angiography and angioplasty, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. He has a wide variety of interests in the field of cardiology, and has published numerous papers on a wide variety of topics.

His current focus is on less invasive ways of looking at the heart. This includes non-invasive coronary angiography (also known as CT coronary angiography) whereby patients can have their coronary arteries looked at without ever having catheters inserted into their body.

In addition, Dr. Schussler is an expert in trans-radial coronary catheterization. Unlike traditional methods of heart catheterization, where tubes are placed through a hole made in the leg, Dr. Schussler can typically perform the entire catheterization (often including fixing a blocked artery) through a small hole made in the wrist. This allows patients to get up and walk much sooner, and in randomized clinical studies, has shown a reduction in potentially life-threatening bleeding.
