Aref Obagi, MD, RPVI

Board-Certified Interventional Cardiologist

Dr. Aref Obagi graduated medical school at University of Aleppo, Syria. He then completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship where he was appointed as a chief fellow at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He then completed  Interventional Cardiology training at the University of Florida.

Dr. Obagi authored several scientific articles on the topics of percutaneous coronary interventions and complications of myocardial infarction, and he has presented several research posters at national meetings including the American College of Cardiology.​

Dr. Obagi’s particular focus in cardiology is preventive cardiovascular medicine, lipid and cholesterol management, blood pressure management, exercise stress testing, preoperative evaluation, diagnosis and management of peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, pulmonary embolism, and arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation).

His Procedural interests include radial and femoral heart catheterization, coronary stenting, intravascular imaging (IVUS and OCT), pericardiocentesis, limb salvage using thrombectomy and atherectomy, peripheral arterial stenting, Transesophegeal echocardiogram and cardioversion, watchman insertion (minimally invasive left atrial appendage closure), PFO/ASD closures.


In his spare time, Dr. Obagi and his wife share a son and enjoys working out, swimming and tennis.
