Biography
Shishir Sharma, MD, is a board-certified clinical cardiologist who brings years of experience in advanced cardiac imaging to HeartPlace, serving adults and teens in and around Arlington, Texas.
Dr. Sharma began his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he graduated with honors. Afterward, he enrolled at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, where he obtained his medical degree and graduated magna cum laude. During his time there, Dr. Sharma was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Before entering private practice, Dr. Sharma completed a residency at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he won a number of research and teaching awards. Dr. Sharma completed additional cardiovascular training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
As a student, he received advanced training in echocardiography. During this time, Dr. Sharma published numerous papers and presented at various national conferences about the prevention of heart disease and how the modification of certain risk factors can improve the heart’s structure.
Dr. Sharma is board-certified in nuclear cardiology and internal medicine. He specializes in advanced heart imaging techniques and has a strong interest in reducing the risk of heart disease through lifestyle modifications.
Outside of work, Dr. Sharma enjoys spending time with his wife and watching college football.
